About our school
Our school is named after Samuel de Champlain
(1567-1635).
Champlain was a French explorer and navigator who mapped
much of North-Eastern North America and started a settlement in Quebec.
Champlain also discovered the lake named for him (Lake Champlain, on the
border of northern New York state and Vermont) in 1609 and was
important in establishing and administering the French colonies in the
New World such as Port Royal and Quebec. Thus, Champlain's fame lies
principally due to his ability to explore, discover and develop --
activities which led him to establish what was to become Canada.
True to our name sake, it is
our belief that a school must help students to explore, discover and
develop -- to promote individual growth academically, physically,
socially and emotionally to the limits of the student's potential. Staff
at Champlain Trail Public School also value the role that parents play
as partners in their child's education and encourage open two-way
communication so that the best possible learning opportunities can be
provided for each student.
The best education for
children occurs through the cooperative efforts of the home and school.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
We look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this year.
